DEAR BLACK MEN, YOU ARE LOVED.
It was "Get Out"
It was MOONLIGHT...
It was Black men getting gunned down by police because their skin complexion was the complete opposite.
It was the young Black men getting gunned down by those who look just like them.
It was the young Black men hustling on the street corners because they felt like they had no one but the streets to turn to.
It was also those hustling trying to feed themselves and their younger siblings because their parents weren't around.
It was the Black men being looked at as "objects" and GUILTY of everything said upon them simply because the "looks" of things...
It was the young Black men who are crying out for help on ways to find themselves but NO ONE CARED TO LISTEN...
It was those Black men in orange jumpsuits with silver cuffs and shackles to match doing LIFE for a crime THEY DIDN'T COMMIT...
It was the young Black men being judged base upon their sexual preference.
It was the "faggot" calling or the "you ain't sh*t just like your father" daily doses like a f*cking alarm clock.
It was the young Black men who attended HBCU's or PWI's.
It was the AWKWARD Black boys...
It was the fathers, the mentors, coaches, and father figures.
It was the MAGIC WITHIN BLACK MEN AND BLACK BOYS....
It was ALL of those things listed above that brought me here simply because it's necessary to not only acknowledge BLACK MEN from certain degrees, angles, and struggles but to acknowledge them to a full extent because it's deserving of them. I know what it feels like to be a BLACK WOMAN in America but I have no idea what it's like to be a BLACK MAN in America...but I could only imagine.
The stereotypes on how as a father you wouldn't be capable of doing your job leaving your children FATHERLESS, planting your seed in every woman you come across just leaving those "poverty babies" out in the world without a care.
Being a Black man meant you've been to jail at least once in your life why? Just because you are a Black man and every Black man has a criminal background (not up for debate..) so they say or the assumption that you are so lazy that you don't even know what a J.O.B feels like....
I've been trying to finish this blog post for the past week... but I was torn about how BLACK WOMEN would view this.. as we look at how we are portrayed on social media being INVISIBLE. Being viewed as the 21st-century Mammys, Sapphires, Jezebels and their homegirls. Just because some of us grew up in broken homes automatically sent the message that we lacked in what others from different race of women didn't.. like knowing how to treat a Black man, how we aren't good enough to marry or because some of us just prefer weaves over being "Au Natural" or the fact that "we don't submit". We are viewed as the WORST kind of women to have. (It's 2017, I don't think anyone has the tolerance to put up with anyone's sh*t but if you come across a White or Hispanic woman who's willing to put up with it, I can't be mad at you..she's a stronger woman than my Black ass will ever be. MORE POWER TO YOU.
Still, I couldn't bring myself to generalize, penalize or dislike ALL Blacj men for the ignorance of some... My father is Black, my brothers, cousins are black, and so is my man who I all love dearly. We have to close this gap on love within the Black community. I don't know if this "Willie Lynch Theory" is real or not but sadly, it has a lot of truth to it. Last week seemed like a war on Black women by Tyrese Gibson and a ''catfish account'' of Redskins football player Lyndon Trail who than later addressed the accusations of self hate weren't true.. by clearing up his name stating that it wasn't his account. Honestly I felt discouraged. I felt like I couldn't finish this but then I thought to myself, this isn't the mindset I should have. This is what Willie Lynch or his ghostwriter would have wanted I can't allow SELF HATE get in the way of SELF LOVE.
Just remember when you speak down on Black women it's like attacking SELF. Black men notice your reflection if you haven't already.
Hey trolls, hiding behind black men faces spreading self hate & Tyrese Gibson sorry but this Black woman is a lover, not a fighter.
Surprised? OH.
NOW... that, that's off of my chest...
DEAR BLACK MEN AND BOYS,
YOU ARE LOVED, YOU ARE LIGHT, & YOU ARE GREAT! Without the lives of you, many things wouldn't be possible sh*t America wouldn't be possible as you built this country on your backs, watched your brothers get lynched, your women be raped and sold... CENTURIES later the black man still survived.. It may not have been you but your ancestors did one hell of a job for you. Continue to shed light break the barriers and lead the way! I refuse to see the lives of black men erased behind bars and jail cells. I refuse to let the ignorance define you. Although things are set up for you to fail you will PREVAIL. Learn from your mistakes if you have any, get yourself a mentor, BE a mentor, BE free, Be YOU!!!! IT'S OKAY TO CRY... OR EXPRESS HOW YOU REALLY FEEL... if you have to (not here to knock Momma's advice but you can't go out into the world feeling nothing... DEAR BLACK MEN YOU ARE LOVED ALWAYS IN ALL WAYS- THIS BLACK WOMAN...
